Winter League 2011The Winter League program is a competitive soccer program where players are selected based on their fall ratings, compared against all players in the division and as such there will not be “open try-outs”. Although the league is competitive, it is still an AYSO program and adheres to its tenants and philosophies. The games begin in January and run through the end of February. San Carlos teams in divisions U10 - U14 compete against teams from the other regions in Area 2N. Future U9 teams are expected to be a part of the program as well. Teams travel to neighboring cities such as Foster City, Redwood City and Belmont to play their games. All games are played on all weather fields and games are played rain or shine. Players must have registered in AYSO for the previous fall season and played in at least 50% of the games and practices. Players in Winter League play in the same division as they did in fall. The number of teams is based on the number of available coaches, other teams in the area and field space. The divisional Winter League coach will invite selected players once all the fall ratings have been complied. This invitation period is between November 19th and December 3rd. If a player is not invited to play, we encourage them to discuss their desire to play with their next seasons fall coaches prior to the season so that they can be best prepared for selection the following Winter League season. |
