We really need you!Every game should have three referees (a Referee and two Assistant Referees). When counting parents with more than one child, we estimate that we need at least one parent out of every six kids to fully cover every soccer match. As a result, we need more referees than head coaches. Luckily, refereeing is easier to pick-up, less time consuming and is equally rewarding.
No Experience Required.
If you haven’t refereed before, don’t worry. You do not need previous soccer experience — just a willingness to come out, get involved and have some fun. You don’t even have to be an adult to volunteer. We have many siblings and former players that have joined our program as youth referees. You only need to be two years older than the age group you wish to referee. We have referees of all different experience levels and a full roster of training and mentoring programs help new referees get started.
How To Get Started
Step 1: Register to Volunteer (Ideally at the same time as you register your players in the spring)
Step 2: Complete a referee training course. You’ll find the dates and times of our upcoming classes on the Referee Trainingpage.
Step 4: Get out on the pitch and referee. Again, don’t worry. We recommend that all our new referees start by taking Assistant Referee assignments with experienced referees. And when you are ready to be the Referee, we have mentors who will join you during your first match or until you feel confident to go it alone. Use our Referee Assignments page to communicate with our Referee Assignor and get the matches that work best with your schedule.
