San Carlos AYSO - Region 107

Knickerbocker-Masters Tournaments

In the winter of 1969 only about one hundred AYSO players could be found scattered across Northern California .  AYSO came to San Carlos in 1974, with just a few teams, under Emmett MacCorkle.  In 1976, the San Carlos Region was chartered under the national organization by Dick Knickerbocker and was recognized to operate within the city boundaries of the City of San Carlos .  In 1991, for the first time, San Carlos had over 1,000 children in the program, and currently we have grown to approximately 1,500 kids!  We are the beneficiaries of the effort, skill, know-how, good will and wonderful positive attitudes of many people over the years.

The Knickerbocker-Masters Cup Tournament is intended to celebrate those individuals.  This annual tournament was named after Dick Knickerbocker who served as commissioner for seven years and Bob Masters who was on AYSO’s board for 8 years and was Regional Commissioner from 1986 to 1988.

Starting in 2008, a new Knickerbocker-Masters Cup Tournament format was created for the U10 division.  Each team now plays 4 shorter games in a round-robin group stage format with points awarded to each team rather than just a simple victory or defeat.  The end result is a full day of fun for all U10 players and their families.  The U10 Knickerbocker-Masters Cup Tournament is held at Burton Park in October 14th - 15th, 2017  with Girls playing on Saturday and Boys playing on Sunday.

The U12/U14 Knickerbocker-Masters Cup Tournament is held on September 30th and October 1st, 2017 with Girls playing on Saturday and Boys playing on Sunday.  Location to be determined.

Turkey Tournament

The Turkey Tournament is a 3-day indoor tournament that takes place Thanksgiving weekend for San Carlos, Belmont and Redwood City. It features fast and furious 20 minute games.

Tournament Dates: Nov 29, 30, and Dec 1, 2019 (Friday - Sunday)

Registration is $25 per player.

Official registration is done on an individual player level through Blue Sombrero (same as the fall program).

Team formation can be done in two ways:
1. Coaches submitting a team - coaches can email a roster to [email protected] based on your fall team. To do this, you must offer an invitation to all players on your regular season team. If you do not have a sufficient number of players, you can merge with other teams.

2. Players can register individually and we can place players on a team.

Final date to turn in team registration and payment is Friday 11/24/2019.

First game will be in the morning on Friday November 29 at a school gym in Redwood City, San Carlos or Belmont depending on age group.

7U and 8U games will be held at Central Middle School in San Carlos.
10U games will be held at Ralston Middle School in Belmont.
12U - 14U games will be held at Red Morton Community Center in Redwood City.

10U - 14U games will be competitive with an overall winner on the Sunday.

Region 107 in San Carlos is running the 7U/8U portion of the tournament at Central Middle School and do need volunteers to run the scoreboard, ref and the 8U tournament.

If you want to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Rick Nee via email at [email protected].
